HAZOP: know your hazards
HAZOP is the systematic method for hazard identification of process installations. The identification of hazards is a standard part of a safety management system. Depending on the risks of the installations, HAZOP is required by the Regulator. The quality of the HAZOP will also be assessed by the inspectors.
The quality of a HAZOP study is mainly determined by the knowledge and experience of the HAZOP team and the HAZOP team leader. SSC can provide experienced HAZOP leaders to perform a HAZOP for your company.
Combining with SIL Classification
It will be efficient to combine the HAZOP with SIL Classification: to determine the risk of the identified scenario’s. This determines the need for safety measures like Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). The framework for that is fixed in the standards NEN-EN-IEC 61508/61511.
