The HAZOP method

The HAZOP method (Hazard and Operability Analysis), is the standard method for identifying and evaluating process deviations. It originates from the Chemical Industry (ICI).

Most companies in the process industry require that a HAZOP is performed at the design stage and with major changes in the plant. For existing installations, HAZOP's are periodically conducted. HAZOP plays an increasingly important role in improving safety and reliability. The HAZOP is also a means to identify unwanted scenarios, which safeguards are assesses with SIL Classification
The knowledge and experience of the HAZOP team and the capabilities of the HAZOP leader are essential for the desired quality of the HAZOP study.

HAZOP session

 SSC provides both an experienced HAZOP team leader as a secretary responsible for recording the discussions of the HAZOP sessions. The results of the HAZOP sessions are presented in a report that includes the worksheets and a list of recommendations. SSC uses a software package from Lihou Technical Software Services for facilitating HAZOP studies and other equivalent identification and evaluation studies.

• Chlorine production plants
• Phosphorus and phosphorus derivatives plants
• Paint Factories
• Fatty Acid Factories
• Pharmaceutical Industry
• Food Industry
